Work Record- Shoot Three

Plans and expectations

For this shoot I plan to show how peoples possessions change from generation to generation. This is mainly due to technological development. For my shoot I will will look at how music has developed looking from great grand parents to me. I will photograph the different generations music collections and how they played them. I  also hope to show how possessions often get left to gather dust and what once meant so much to people is now often seen as a meaning less antique left in a loft.

Evaluations

I think this shoot was extremely successful and I am impressed with the results. For this shoot I created a studio set up at home, whilst Keeping a brick wall as my background. I felt this help to add texture to the images of which some were very plain.

I like the focus and different focal points within the image. The mixture of colours help to create a positive atmosphere for the images. However the damage shown within the individual records contrast this with neglect. This images helps to show how peoples old possessions which are considered outdated are left in a place which potentially damages them, for example a loft. Possessions are put to the side due to society and technological change. Although the shot setting show no flash this is because I had external light sources which are left on constant acting as studio lights. These helped to create the bright and detailed focus the image shows.

Although the dog is slightly blurred I am very happy with this image. I think by having the dog slightly blurred it shows the animals curiosity to this item and movement as it investigated there foreign object. This particular images is interesting as it relates to when the gramophone was around as the most recent technological development and popular. The makers of one partiular gramophone had a logo as shown to the left. This logo can be seen on the gramophone within the image. I find it interesting how the image can related to the time which this item was around and part of its history. The gramophone also shows a vast amount of dirt and dust showing how old the object is. The dog therefore could also represent how a younger person within todays society may be clueless as to what this is and when seeing it act similar to how the dog is, intrigued. The image to the right shows all camera and the images settings.

Progression

The idea of showing how possessions change through generation was very interesting to explore and enjoyable to shoot. If the resources was amiable to me I would create other series of images similar to this, showing how computers and memory storage has change or possibly how movie making and watching has changed and developed.
